 DEADLINE FOR ALL HONORS COLLEGE APPLICATION MATERIAL IS March 1st 2024


Please note:  Application for admission into the Honors College cannot be considered until you are conditionally admitted to Bluefield State University. The Bluefield State University Admissions Office must have your application, which can be found here,  and your current academic records or transcripts. International students should have their academic records or transcripts translated using a credentials service.

Be advised that International Students (Non-U.S. citizens) have special application requirements for Bluefield State University and the Honors College itself, including verification of English language proficiency and transcript translation. Nota Bene: Applications are not accepted for programs of study beginning during spring terms. Applications are not accepted from students possessing 31 or more degree equivalency credits.

*Be advised that minimum standardized test scores are required for admission to the Honors College program.For admission to the program, the applicant must score an  S.A.T. ERW score of 480 and Reading score of 23; an A.C.T. score of 18 for English main and a score of 17 in Reading; or an Accuplacer score of 250 Writing and 252 Reading. You may submit this application without test scores, but your final admission requires certified equivalent test scores submitted to the Office of Admissions. You may request an Accuplacer testing session by contacting the Counseling and Advising Center at (304) 327-4444.
Accomplishments, Awards, and Service

Have two references submit confidential letters of recommendation to honors@bunmc.com. At least one reference must be the applicant’s teacher, professor, academic advisor, or academic guidance counselor. Letters from friends, family members, and personal acquaintances will not be accepted. Recommendation letters must be submitted in PDF or Word file format.

Once your application to the Honors College has been received, you will be sent an email with instructions for submitting the Honors College admission essay which is required to complete the application materials.
